We are excited to share that Nancy Salto, a teacher at our Paulo Freire Center, is a Golden Apple Scholar. The Golden Apple Scholars of Illinois is a scholarship program that identifies talented students who have the promise and drive to be excellent teachers in schools-of-need in Illinois.As a Golden Apple scholar and Chicago Commons teacher, Nancy has developed skills, expertise and professionalism that according to Golden Apple, make her “uniquely qualified to serve”. Nancy also participates in intensive Summer Institutes each summer as she pursues her undergraduate degree focused on teaching in schools-of-need.
